10.45 - 11.35 Wolfgang Branoner, Senator for Economics and Technology,
Berlin
Eberhard Behrend of the German Hydrogen Association (DWV) offered
the senator support in all his questions concerning renewable energies.
"Being
present on the Group Exhibits "Hydrogen and Fuel Cells"
at Hannover Fair 2001 means that your company is ready to stay on
the market and that it is able to offer competitive goods or services.
Visiting the Group Exhibits makes you understand that this technology
offers viable solutions. Suppliers have to orient to this new energy
market. I guess that it will take two to five years that hydrogen
and fuel cell technology will reach a larger part of consumers by
getting cheaper. In Berlin we promote demonstration projects to
introduce these new technologies, and in the future we hope to get
a part of production plants."
Wolfgang Branoner visited the booth of the German Aerospace Center
DLR, Institute for Technical Thermodynamics and was given an overview
of the production technologies for the MEA-units of membrane fuel
cells and about the use in fuel cells system technology.
Nobert Witteczek and Jörg Gibretz from SMART Electronic Development
GmbH introduced to the senator the company SMART and talked to him
about the necessity of system solutions.

At the booth of the DaimlerChrysler AG, Fuel Cell Project together
with XCELLSiS GmbH Dr. Hans-Peter Schmid answered Wolfgang Branoner's
questions about the latest news in the technologies of methanol
powered fuel cell cars.
